Dawn O'Meally - MSW, LCSW-C, P.A.
Dawn has been a mental health professional for almost 30 years. After getting her MSW from Virginia Commonwealth University, her first job as a social worker was at Sheppard Pratt Hospital providing innovative clinical services to individuals and families. Dawn began her own private practice in 1996 while also working part time in the emergency departments of two area hospitals doing psychiatric evaluations. After years of renting out a small, one room office, Dawn decided to go out on a limb and expand her vision. In Spring of 2004 Dawn opened The Counseling Center for Change.
Dawn's main area of focus and specialties include utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy methods with both individuals and groups. She believes in an active, solution oriented, primarily here-and-now, approach that is both empathetic and collaborative. Dawn is also a part of Strive - a support group designed to provide nutrition counseling and psycho-educational therapy, and Trilogy - a three part program that, like Strive, includes nutrition counseling and psycho-educational therapy but also institutes the element of physical fitness. Ultimately, her goal in all of these endeavors is to help individuals not just feel better, but get better.
Dawn is a wife and a mother to three children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, going to concerts and spending time at her cabin in West Virginia.
